Sorry CASS [MR055]
Release Date: March 12th, 2009
Proceeds Benefit: TBA
Sorry
like to introduce themselves at
every show like this. "Hi! We're Sorry!" Ryan and Aaron have been
friends of mine for a couple years, through Bellingham roots related to
ex-Tri Shitties kids. Did you know that the Tri-Cities, WA
have the highest doctorate degree-per-capita ratio in the country? Most
people think its DC. They are wrong. These fellas play quirky pop music
with lots of starts and stops and turns, seemingly designed for
Generation ADD. These are fun, crisp songs for spring rollar blading
along the beach or through that large park you have to bike to get to
first. Just make sure to bring an emergency umbrella and stay away from
the still-cold tree shadows!
SIDE A: 1] Mom 2]

Tyson Ballew "Fruit Trees For Cassowaries"
CASS [MR054]
Release Date: February 26th, 2009
Proceeds Benefit: Rock &
Roll Camp For Girls
I've known Tyson Ballew
for over five years now and have always been a huge fan of his starkly
honest lyrics and ruminations on small town life, local music scenary,
social politics and love. A great guy with a tenacity to bounce off the
walls and the crowd at shows, this is his first venture into a studio
setting. Schmed (engineer/producer) fills in the spaces of the album
with quirky, pop-leaning arrangements that are never too overbearing to
let Tysons words & melodies shine on. The cassette version of the
record contains TWO bonus songs (see *).

Proceeds Benefit: Seattle
Food Not Bombs & Bellingham Food Not

A collection of 20 great
songs from four amazing songwriters, two "from" seattle and two "from"
Bellingham. I have been a fan of the voices and songwritings of Go
Slowpoke (Bham) and Dashel Schueler (Sea) for a few years now and
love their ability to tie poppy progressions to clever lyrics. These
witty chaps are joined by myself (1985) and the beautiful, eerie and
sometime somber songcrafting of Maple Nightingale, who also fronts the
Bellingham band Yes We Are.

Release Date: January 2nd, 2009
Proceeds Benefit: Migrant Farm Workers In Wenatchee
Herr Jazz jump onto the
local Seattle scene with this frantic, nervous collection of noisey pop
punk. These boys thrash, flash and flail with jangly guitar hooks and
bumble-pop bass. Herr Jazz are brash "high school" boyz and this short
collection of home recordings capture an exciting moment in their
youthful songwriting. It is truly a magical 14 minutes and will kick
your lethargy in the ass. Hell, it single-handedly kicked this label
out of a 4 year slumber!

Release Date: October 200?
Quantity: 100 copies
Running Time:
We all decided to get
together and hang out for a day at B-18's practice space in seattle and
record a couple songs each with our friend Kevin. a fun time was had by
all and as we all pondered what the name of the ep should be, one of
our eyes fell on a particular thrift store treasure (b-18 are junkies),
a broken neon "Western Union" sign. It seemed fitting since the EP was
to be taken east with us for our short tour and most of us become
friends while living in Bellingham, home to western (washington
university). Dark, noisy rock from three bands of friends and three
bands friends.

This
album was written and recorded in less than 60 minutes on a handheld
cassette recorder inside the belly of Sylvia (my geo metro) on the
corner of 35th street and hawthorne in portland, oregon late on the
night of september 21st, 2002. The album came after a rather horrible
show in Portland and after a rather horrible collision with a rockslide
in Salida, CO a few weeks earlier at the beginning of the ASS / Jon
McIntyre tour. The rockslide ended the tour, JOn flew home from
Colorado and I drove home, catching this tour show on the way back,
after being trapped in Salida with a broken car for awhile. Another
completely improv'ed ASS release.

A Sandcastle Still "The Four Elements Of
Analog" CDR [MR021]
Release Date: August 2002
Quantity: 150 Copies
Running Time: 72:12
Proceeds Benefit: The
International Solidarity Movement
The concept behind this
album was to have four engineering friends with analog equipment and
tendencies to record four songs each. Each engineer was given one of
the four physical elements and asked to try and do their magic in such
a way as to embody that element. The songs they recorded were selected
to be the most fitting, lyrically and musically, for the element they
were given. The album was recorded in July and August, 2002. Dave
Matthies (The Gift Machine) recorded the Water tracks at his Ink River
Studio. Rich Canut (Language Arts, Goldstar) and Labrynt McLaughlin
(Goldstar) recorded the Earth tracks at their Lab Partner Studio. Doug
Krebs (Lago Volunteers, Break Off!) recorded the Wind tracks at his Dig
Recordings Studio. Sean McKee (The Narrows) and Jon McIntyre recorded
the Fire tracks in the basement of the F Street house on the old Yo-Yo
Studios board that Justin McIntyre (The Narrows) owns.

Lands Farth East "Last Sunset" b/w The
Seizures "La Jolla For Locals" 7" [MR020]
Released: March 14th, 2004
Quantity: 500 copies (100 on Red Vinyl)
This record was
originally supposed to come out long ago, but was postponed many times
due to financial difficulties. Both bands, though great in their time,
are now defunct. The Seizures, b'ham purveyors of youthful punk
rock, recorded "La Jolla For Locals" with Doug Krebs at his Dig
Recordings Studio. The band went on to morph into USS Horsewhip and
later Police Teeth, among others. Lands Farther East, longtime b'ham
all-agers and dubbed "mathmo" by Spin magazine, recorded "Last Sunset"
during their recording session at the Hall Of Justice with Chris Walla.
The session, sans this track, became the "There Goes The Atmosphere"
album. A good many of the covers for this 7" are screen printed with
various colors on various papers.

A Sandcastle Still "The Stars &
Mountains (Glitter)" CASS [MR014]
Release Date: ? ? ?
Quantity: 50 Copies
Running Time: 90 min.
This album was recorded
live to ye' ol' hand-held cassette recorder. It is an improved concept
album, and all "songs" were written, performed and recorded at the same
time, one time. They are all instrumental, having been recorded direct
from the acoustic pick-up. The album was written one cold, crisp winter
day in a hotel room in Pullman, WA and is highly centered on the
emotives entailed by that single heavy notion, of being in a magical
place of ones past where love and romance once flourished but has since
departed, after having dripped into the very soil it once thrived atop
but now only exists within.

Quantity: 125 Copies
Running Time: 60 min.
Proceeds Benefited: The In Harmony Institute (Corvalis, OR)
This
debut full-length, a cassette album, was recorded mostly one late
August night outside one of the entrances to the oldest building on the
Western Washington University Campus, the Old Main Building. The
entrance was an enclosed hallway walled by brick, cement and window. As
such, it provided a good aural setting for this live album, recorded on
a borrowed hand-held cassette recorder from Greg that featured a pop-up
mic feature. The album was created to have a new recording to bring on
the summer tour, but copies were not able to be dubbed in time.

C. Douglas Grant "Highlander X: The
Musical" CASS [MR007]
Release Date: Unreleased
Quantity: 20 Copies
I've known Casey Grant
since 1995. We lived in the same dorm room on campus. We first met one
late night (we were both night owls) when i went down tot he small
lounge in the dorm and caught casey jumping and punching holes in the
ceiling all katate like. We understood each other from the beginning
and our self-effacing, comical styles blended perfectly. Casey is a
genuine goofball with an addiction to and penchant for mashing pop
culture. This is a concept musical album with a cast of characters (all
performed by Casey) including Yoda, Sean Connery, Keanu Reeves
and many others. It is the ancient tale of good versus evil and
peppered with pop culture and movie references of the 80's and 90's
(including Star Wars and The Matrix). The musical is followed by a few,
more serious, four track songs casey wrote.

My Little Brother "Inaudible" b/w "I Love
Dolores, (heart) Very Much" 7" [MR006]
Release Date: Autumn/Winter 2000?
Quantity: 500 Copies
Lovely border-line twee
from this collection of Tri-Cities dorks. It's a bummer that the band
formed in high school and only really hit a stride once they all went
to various colleges scattered across the state. The boys were able to
get together enough to play some awesome shows and to record some great
songs, including these great sounding studio recordings this seven
inch. MLB laden themselves with clever lyrics, poppy hooks and rhythms
that alleviate the sometimes tugging heart tones. My Little Brother
exude raw pop brillance that often came paired live with charming,
unrehearsed stumblings. Check out the rough live versions of these
seven inch songs, recorded at a show with Dear Nora in Bellingham on
February 26th, 2000:

Release Date: Spring/Summer 1999?
Quantity: 50 Copies
Sometime in the dead of
winter a group of a couple dozen friends decided to have a get together
where they all shared their talents in a performance setting. We
gathered together a couple months later, on April 24th 1998, pouring
some drinks and eating
some great food on a perfect barbeque day. We had a line-up and, one by
one and in over-reaching small groups, we took to the stage (re: living
room), most of us somewhat nervously to sing, dance, poeticize, tell
jokes, act, shred, decribe scupltures, food and concepts. It was a fun
night, as we rooted for one another and found ourselves grafting
together closer than ever.

Release Date: Spring 1999
Quantity: 50 Copies
This is the second
installment of The Wetness Protection Program. This series of cassettes
asks that a few good friends who have never really played music or made
noise together get together and do that for the first time with a
recording device and a guiding rule of improv. "Step Two: The Tent"
features Matt Fu and Greg Cruikshank together in Matt's room listening
and singing along to the secret stars, banging on acoustic guitars and
pots, drinking a few beers, nearly falling asleep and having a jolly
ol' time. The recording is 120 minutes long and absolutely fabulous!

Proceeds Benefited: The Red Cross

This album features 5
songs by 3 of my musician friends (Jackie Fiegel, Dan Shafer and
Jessica Porter) recorded live on 2 tracks. It was supposed to by 5x4x2,
and indeed we did record five songs by Sean McKee but Sean decided not
to include them (bootleg anyone?). The covers were again screen printed
by Dan and the whole point of the record was to capture in the moment
some of my friend's songs in the warm and cozy environment of the
Forest St living room. The album came out in conjunction with a benefit
concert at Sean, Darci and I's old house at 1020 N Forest that also saw
Robert Blake play. All the money made from the show and sales of this
first batch of the album went to the Red Cross to assist in Kosovo

Death Cab For Cutie "Live From Algers
Hottest Nightclub: The Kitchen Sink" CASS [MR002]
Release Date: February 1999
Quantity: 35 copies
This is not really Death
Cab For Cutie. It was a complete joke album which essential entailed me
(matt fu) "singing along to death cab songs while doing the dishes."
This album was a "Moustached Mona" sort of moment and had a lot to due
with the amount of celebrity froth that was starting to kick up around
this batch of normal, nice fellas who most people knew in Bellingham as
good, friendly chaps. It is subtitled "A Way To Cut Lengthwise." Most
of the copies were given to friends. One got reviewed in the Whats
Up!
local music magazine. Four were discovered by Trevor Adams, a friend of
Death Cab's and an employee of Cellophane Square, on consignment in the
tape racks there and were (sadly) taken of the shelf and given to the
band themselves. I kind
of wanted to pull a quick one on those who were beginning to think of
these smelly shitters as something more than just normal human beings. Needless
to say, there was never any intention to make any money off of this
cassette and only the motivation to make a point about "celebrity." I
mean, have you smelled Walla's farts? I have and they stink!

CASS [MR001]
Release Date: January 1999
Quantity: 100 copies
This is a live show
compilation featuring My Little Brother, Dan Shafer, Jackie Fiegel and
Chesters Bubbles. It was recorded on Dans four-track on December 6th,
1998 while we were all hanging out and watching some of our friends
play some tunes over at the ol' East Maple Street house. The original
covers were designed & screen printed by Dan and individually
numbered. The show was a lot of fun and a good piece of nostalgia for
those present.
