| news & thoughts: 06.02.08: well, hello. i hope you have been doing well these last several months, i seem to have been keeping super busy with trying to finish my degree at evergreen state college and working selling vintage clothing on eBay. ah! i am currently bunkered down in a hotel room in west yellowstone, feeling lonely, but on my scenic way back to the twin cities so i can visit my grandmother and attend the 2008 National Conference On Media Reform. Yeah! I thought I should say hello here, though, as 1985 planning has been somewhat busy. I will be out on tour coming to visit you for three months before February 2009, and the first patch of that is a two month greyhound tour from July 20th to Sept 20th. stay tuned to the right for updates on the wheres and whens. I am also currently writing a bunch of new material for an album yet titled but whose cover will look something like this: ![]() here is a demo for a song on the album which is named after one of my favorite NW bands: 1985 - "The Solvents" [MP3] The song relates some thoughts from a tour I did with Jarrod & Emily. It is a love song, something rare for me, but something which will dominate this album. I am hoping that karl blau and I can find some time to record it together before the tour starts, though karl is really busy with some other recording projects right now. Also, I will be heading out on the second half of the tour with my good friend Peter who plays as Go Slowpoke. He is amazingly awesome. We have been working together a bit on this covers song band that focuses on covering songs from our hometown of Bellingham, WA. Please visit The Corner Pocket Covers Collective to download/listen to several covers of local bands I have done in the past, including one me and Peter and Ian recorded of what I have often called "The Greatest Indie Pop Song To Come Out Of Bellingham" (and no, its not death cab for cutie, it is by Clamdust aka James Reisen). Check it out! Stay tuned here for more demos from the new album as they get created and please note that the style and instrumentation on these final songs will hopefully be a lot different then the typical guitar and vox only stylings... okay back to homework! 02.19.08: updated: tour documentary updated: some pictures i took (i shot most of the photos here) updated: discog and audio files! stay tuned! in the next two weeks we will be adding at least 6 free old albums (going back to old projects) and will also be adding free mp3's from the last three albums! as well as 3-4 live sets from the last couple years! 02.18.08: okay! so finally another 1985 website. sorry it took so long to so long to get this up and running! i am excited to be off myspace a bit more and super stoked to be "designing" my own pages again. i hope it looks alright, it definately looks best if you are using mozilla firefox, which you should be anyways. the album that the full band recorded in January of 2007 (which is called "Back To The Future") with eli and ashley of LAKE fame should hopefully be getting released on cassette this spring on Brown Interiour Music. I haven't been playing too many shows lately, or even writing new songs, and the band kind of floated apart shortly after recording the record. hopefully, all of that will change soon. personally, i am busy FINALLY finishing my four year degree (via evergreen state college) and i look forward to heading out FINALLY on another month-long tour this summer. anyways, stay in touch, okay? i should have some more news and website developments very soon, including encoding the 10 or more albums and live sets i have available for free so you can come here and download them. |
